Begin your day with Scripture, right in your newsfeed!

Our mission is to equip women with the strength they need to walk in their day with faith and purpose. We want this to be a spark to your morning, a reminder to draw near to God.

Sharing biblical principles through everyday life situations every Christian can relate to.

Sharing the Word of God is what this blog and companion Facebook Page is all about. What an honor and privledge it is to be a worker together with Him! Since June 18, 2012 God has allowed us to share faith, hope, encouragement, and inspiration that comes only from His Word with our Christian family all over the world.

From my home on 2 islands in Alaska, join me in all things beautifully complex, oddly absurd, the sublime +the humble, high heels + XtraTuffs. Welcome!

LESLIE LEYLAND FIELDS is an award-winning author of eight books, a regular contributor to Christianity Today and other magazines, a national speaker and a sometimes commercial fisherwoman with her husband and 6 children, all of whom live on Kodiak Island, Alaska.

Her speaking and writing is enlivened by her uncommon life, a life that began in hardship in rural New Hampshire and went on to include three graduate degrees, and a life of adventure in both academia and Alaska. Her first ten years of marriage were spent in the Alaska bush, in graduate school, and backpacking through Asia and Africa. Near the end of those years, it was somewhere in the interior of Africa, while lurching through the rainforest, that Leslie and Duncan decided it was soon time to begin another kind of adventure—parenting. In the span of fifteen years, a daughter and five sons arrived, who range in age now from 23 to 8. Every summer, the entire family moves westward to another island, this one inhabited by them alone. There (on Harvester Island) they don raingear and head out onto the ocean, working intensively in their family’s commercial salmon fishing operation, begun in 1961. Luckily (or not, depending), they anchored a satellite dish to their island hillside and Leslie is now connected with the world even during the summers.

While based in Kodiak, Leslie travels often to speak at conferences, churches, retreats and universities on matters of family, literature, Creation Care, food and theology. Leslie is a popular radio guest as well, having done more than 150 interviews on shows such as Family Life Radio, Chris Fabry Live! Prime Time America and many others. The last two years she’s been discussing the spirituality of food, the necessity of Creation Care and common myths of Christian parenting. Her cover stories for Christianity Today on the declining value on children and the myth of the perfect parent led to features in The New York Times, The Washington Times, The Wall Street Journal and other publications.

She is the author/editor of eight books including The Spirit of Food: 34 Writers on Feasting and Fasting Toward God, Parenting is Your Highest Calling .. and Eight Other Myths, Surprise Child: Finding Hope in Unexpected Pregnancy, Surviving the Island of Grace: A Life on the Wild Edge of America, and her most recent, Hooked! True Stories of Obsession, Death and Love by Alaska’s Commercial Fishing Men and Women.
