Overcoming the impossible is a challenge laid before every Christian in one way or another. Most of the time, when facing a situation or circumstance that we’ve never faced before, we feel awkward and a bit clumsy. It takes time for us to become proficient and comfortable at handling new tasks or responsibilities.
I remember how awkward it was learning how to drive a manual shift vehicle. I learned how to drive a stick shift on a 79 passenger Crown school bus.
I’ll never forget the fear I had of sitting behind the wheel of that monster vehicle for the first time. I never saw so many gauges, lights and switches before in my life.
The thought of being able to steer the bus with my left hand, shift with my right hand, operate the clutch with my left foot, and accelerate and brake with my right foot while at the same time watching the traffic seemed like an absolute impossibility to me.
When you feel like your adversary has the advantage over you, trust in your weaponry. You may not feel like your armor is protecting you from enemy strikes, but remain process oriented as opposed to results oriented. Overcoming your life challenge may take some time.
But once I learned and became proficient at it, I could do what at one point seemed like the impossible without even thinking about it. Overcoming my fears of driving such an extreme vehicle didn’t come overnight, but through practice, I learned how to drive a manual shift vehicle.
Whenever I’m facing a difficult situation in life that I have no clue how to handle, I refer back to the first time I sat in the driver seat of that bus and those memories help me in overcoming the seemingly impossible.
The same is true with handling the Armor of God which is outlined in Ephesians 6:10-18.You may feel completely overcome, being suited up in all this heavy armor at first.
Having the belt of truth around your waist. The breastplate of righteousness covering your chest. The Gospel of Peace on your feet. The shield of faith in one hand. The helmet of Salvation on your head, and in your other hand the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God can seem overwhelming if you’re not skilled at using these tools.
For someone who has been used to fighting their own fights bare knuckle style, it will take some time to become used to using the tools that God gave us. In fact you may feel like your opponent has the advantage over you at first.
But when you feel like your adversary has the advantage over you, trust in your weaponry. You may not feel like your armor is protecting you from enemy strikes, but remain process oriented as opposed to results oriented. Overcoming your life challenge may take some time.
Overcoming the Impossible Using the Weaponry of God
I encourage you to face your challenges of life full on knowing and remembering that you don’t have to fight alone. God is with you and if God is with you no one can be successful against you.
You have the wisdom of God residing in the inside of you along with the guarantee from God that no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).
Trust that you can do all things through Christ who will strengthen you in the tough situations that you must face in life and prepare yourself to give great testimonies to others of the victories that will surely come.
