Good Stewards of Godly Pearls of Wisdom

Being good stewards of the things God is something that should not be taken lightly. We have the privilege and opportunity to be workers together with Him by being vessels that He can use to bless those around us.

The Good Stewards

What if there was a rich man whose son was sick. The rich man called you up and asked you if you would be so kind as to deliver an extremely rare, one-of-a-kind diamond-encrusted, pure gold pendant to his son. The pendant is engraved with a special message to the son that will ease his hospital stay. You gladly agree, and the rich man overnights his special package to you.

Upon receiving the package the next day, you place it on your dining room table and head out to mow the lawn. At 5:00PM your wife arrives home and begins to clear the table for dinner. She moves your unopened package and tosses it onto the couch in the den. After dinner the kids make a beeline to the den. They see your package and put it on top of the dryer just to make room on the couch. The next day when the maid comes in, she sees your package on the dryer and mistakenly throws it out along with the empty laundry detergent container.

The following day, just before you head out to the hospital to make your delivery, you turn to get your package off the table and find that it’s no longer there. You ask your wife and the boys if they have seen it, but nobody knows anything about a package that came in the mail yesterday. You search the whole house, but your package is nowhere to be found.

How would it make you feel, knowing that you lost a one-of-a-kind pendant that was meant to ease the pain of the rich man’s son who was suffering? How do you make things right? What do you say to the rich man? What do you say to his son? Sadly, the same thing happens when God gives us a Word of Wisdom for someone and we misplace it and never deliver it to the designated recipient.

We Are Laborers Together With Him

Our God is not a wasteful God. Some of the thoughts and ideas God gives us are meant for us. Other times He gives us thoughts and ideas that are meant to be delivered for the benefit of others. Sometimes these pearls of wisdom are meant for a specific person and sometimes they are meant for the masses. In any case, God has a purpose for the words of wisdom He gives us. They are meant to minister to someone, somewhere.

As a Christian blogger, I have been guilty of losing packages that God has sent to me to be delivered to others so often that It shames me to think about it. As bloggers, we have the privilege of sharing God’s Word with people all over the world. Most of the time when God leads me to write on a particular subject, I write down the thought or idea. Other times, I don’t, thinking to myself that the message God wants me to write is so loud and clear that I won’t have any trouble at all remembering it and writing the blog post later.

But, 3, 4, or even 5 hours later as I sit down to write, I haven’t got a clue what the message I was supposed to write about was. As I sit there blankly looking at my computer screen, all I can do is repent and ask God for forgiveness for losing the one-of-a-kind gift that He wanted to deliver to someone through me.

I encourage you to handle God’s Word with care. Whether it’s the bible, Him speaking to you by the still, small voice in your spirit, or by Him giving you a thought or an idea, let’s strive to be good stewards of God’s Word. Handle what God gives you with the same respect that you would handle an item given to you for delivery by a rich man.

Don’t Allow Your Message to be Returned to Sender

We have an enemy that doesn’t want these pearls of wisdom from God to reach their intended destination. If we aren’t good stewards of the messages God gives us, the enemy will steal them. There are tons of prayers, words of wisdom, warnings and advice, and Christian blog messages that have been returned to God stamped “Return to Sender”. These packages never reached their intended parties because they were stolen from the minds of God’s people before they were ever delivered.

Let’s be good stewards of the good things of God. We are blessed that God has chosen us to deliver His most precious Words. Let’s handle His Words, His thoughts and His messages in a responsible manner and guarantee that they reach His desired destination.
