Characteristics of a Good Church: Political Involvement
Political involvement from the church is a fairly new phenomenon. We’re in a day and age when political involvement from the church is imperative on a local, state, and national level.
We as Christians must educate ourselves about certain bills, measures and representatives and how these will affect the church as a whole. The devil has had control of our government system for far too long.
For years the church has been ignorant of harmful legislation than has passed right under it’s nose. By political involvement, I mean educating congregants about the bills and measure that will affect our local communities, and sharing with the congregants what they’re political thoughts and beliefs are as they relate to scripture.
Candidates and the platforms they represent should be examined through a spiritual lens. For far too long we’ve voted for people. We’ve voted for personalities with little regard for the platform that the candidate is standing on. This must change. Change comes by the examination of the platform that the candidate represents. Then holding that platform up against what the scriptures have to say about the issues.
Your church should know the platforms, know the issues, know the candidates and openly discuss their position on the issues with it’s congregants. For the Christian, an unbiased, political education should come from the local church.
