Trust Is Blessed Assurance

Trust is blessed assurance. There are many adjectives that can be attached to the word “trust”, particularly when it comes to trusting in the living God. The larger your vision of who God is, the larger and more grand your trust in Him is. Trust is the absolute assurance that God is who He said He is. It’s the absolute assurance that He will do what He said He will do. Our undying trust in Him makes Him our rock that is unshakable in every situation. As the line from the old hymn goes, Blessed Assurance, Jesus is mine.

Sympathy From Friends Can Become Intoxicating

Sympathy from friends when we’re going through the trials of life can be intoxicating. As humans, it feels good to be cared for. It feels good to be confirmed and acknowledged. But as perverted as it may seem, the good feeling of sympathy received can become more important to us than actively overcoming our situations through the Power of God. Don’t deprive others of your overcoming testimony because of your enjoyment of and your need to bask in the sympathy of friends.

A Loving Father

A loving father knows that the relationship he has with each of his children is different. We, as God’s children, are unique in every way as well. If we had the ability to view and evaluate all the parameters surrounding us as individuals and the problems we face in life we would have to conclude that even two people in the same boat in life would be virtually impossible. But we all don’t have to be in the same boat. With God in your boat with you, there’s no need for anyone else.

Doing Good as a Lifestyle

Doing good can sometimes be boiled down to specific deeds. However, doing good can also become a lifestyle if we discipline ourselves to look for opportunities to do good. Jesus modeled this lifestyle when was here. The term “doing good” spans such a broad spectrum. There are many, many, MANY things that can fall under the title of “doing good” in your sphere of influence. Ask God to open your eyes to opportunities to do good and intentionally start living the “doing good” lifestyle.

Forgiving and Forgetting

Forgiving and forgetting seems to be a concept that some grapple with. Believe me, I understand. Some of us carry wounds so deep that we’ll struggle in pain for the rest of our lives. But we as Christians are on a journey to become more like Christ. Every day we walk the face of this earth we will lean upon the grace, mercy and forgiveness of God. How would it change our perspective and relationship with God if our sins were forgiven, but not forgotten? If having a loving Father who makes the choice daily to forgive and forget my sins, how can I, in good conscience turn around and tell you that I’ll forgive you, but I won’t forget what you did to me? Just a little food for thought.

Counterfeit Realities

Counterfeit items can only exist where real items exist. You’ll never find a counterfeit 3 dollar bill. Why? Because there are no real 3 dollar bills. Whenever you hear the term “counterfeit” train you mind to know and understand that somewhere in the world a real version exists. Healing by the laying on of hands, prosperity, faith in an invisible God, salvation through faith in Jesus Christ, praying in tongues, and a myriad of other things have been deemed as counterfeit down through the years. Praise God!

Our Confidence in God

Our confidence in God and what He has spoken to us in His Word comes from meditation. Meditation on His Word. Biblical meditation is quite different than what the world terms “meditation”. In the world, meditation is emptying ourselves. For those of us in the Body of Christ, meditation is filling ourselves. Filling ourselves with the thoughts, principles, and ideas contained in scripture. Our confidence in God is at it’s height when we are filled with the knowledge of His Will for our lives.

Comparing Apples to Oranges

Comparing apples to oranges can’t be done because……well, because apples are different than oranges. Likewise, we as Children of God must never allow ourselves to fall into the trap of comparing our lives and the way God deals with us to the way He deals with another brother or sister in the family. We are as unique to Him as the fingerprints He has given us. We are distinctly difference individuals and as such, God deals with us in distinctly different ways tailoring His love distinctly for you and you alone.

Blinders Cause Blindness

Blinders are the bills, the illnesses, the family drama, and the stresses on the job. They are anything that blinds us to our God ordained purpose in this life and to the overwhelming evidence of His presence in our lives. It takes effort to live in such a way that we behold His Glory on a continual basis. God has hidden Himself in plain view. Let’s strive to remove our blinders to His presence and acknowledge Him and the blessing that He surrounds us in daily.

Trials By Fire Build Strong Bonds

Trials by fire not only build character in you, but they build strong bonds between you and whoever you go through the trial with. Faith in the Unseen Makes Us Believers

Faith in the unseen is what makes us believers. If we could see that which we hope for we would be knowers. Seems simple enough. God our Father is the epitome of  the word / concept of trust. He said in His Word that He cannot lie. If God’s Word has failed in your life, the person in the mirror is where the breakdown occurred, not with God. Therefore we can approach the unseen world of hope with an absolute assurance that we serve a God who will never let us down.

Do You Know Him?

Do you know Him? No, I’m not asking if you know about Him. I’m asking if you know Him personally. When you know someone, you act accordingly. Our body language towards others comes as a result and to the degree that we know them. My wife can invade my personal space to a degree that Patrick Mahomes can’t. I know who Patrick is. I admire Patrick. But Patrick and I have never and will never bond. Have you allowed God to invade your personal space to the point where you can say with all certainty that you know Him?

Living Life As a Servant of God

Living life with reverence, respect, and honor for who God is is how we were designed to live. Making Him the center of our lives is the only thing that will fulfill us a human beings. Chasing goals, dreams, and desires without placing Him first will only lead to an empty, hallow and disappointing existence. God knows the deep desires of our hearts. He placed those desires within us. The quickest way to see those desires here, in this life is to become a servant and seek Him first (Matthew 6:33)

Paranoid Persistence

Paranoid persistence is the fear of not continuing. The fear of what might have been had you been persistent. A winner is just a loser who tried one more time. And because the loser did not make one more attempt, the history books document yet another loss. Another disappointment. Another failure. I’d like to encourage you to develop a paranoid persistence as you stand on God’s Word to see the promises of God manifest in your life. Your “one more time” just might bring about the breakthrough you’ve been praying for.

When You Trust Someone…

When you trust someone who is supposed to be in control, such as the driver of a car, you lay your head back and go to sleep. Relaxation becomes easy. I’ve driven professionally for many, many years and when my passengers apologize for having fallen asleep I tell them, “As a passenger, the greatest complement you can give a driver is to fall asleep”. There is a body language associated with trust. What’s you body language where your trust in your heavenly Father is concerned?

Kingdom Style Mentorship

Kingdom style mentorship entails more than simply teaching the Word. Jesus taught, modelled and empowered those around Him when He was here. This is true mentorship. To be great mentors we’ll have to take the time to build relationships. True mentorship is a lifestyle. There is no down time. It’s being “on” 24/7/365 and being willing to allow others to see how we live, move, and handle the conflicts that come with daily life. Sharing how we do life is what it means to be a true mentor.

Who You Know Makes All The Difference in the World

Who you know can make the difference between getting the job or not getting the job. We’ve all heard that phrase or something similar before. I believe that same principle has a spiritual application. If you know God, then you plus God can overcome any situation in your life. God is our healer, our provider, our protector, our advocate, our consultant, our Savior. He is all things to us and we are nothing without Him. So if all things are possible with God, and I’m with Him, my enemy (and whatever tool he’s chosen to attack me with) are a defeated foe!

You call me Lord?

You call me Lord, Lord, yet you don’t do the things I say…(Luke 6:46). We are quickly approaching a season where our allegiance to God will be severely tested. When you reach that fork in the road when you’ll have an opportunity to align yourself with God or possibly suffer consequences, what are you you going to choose? Submit to the governing authorities, but rebellion can also be considered obedience when the laws of the governing authorities conflict with the laws handed down by our God.

Storms of Life Can’t Move You

Storms of life can’t move you when you’re tethered to the immovable. God’s Word is immovable. Distractions may come, but think about this for a moment. If the devil had the power to defeat me, why doesn’t he just defeat me and be done with it? Because he can’t. He needs to detach me from the Word in order to defeat me. Be determined to stand strong. The dark clouds of hopelessness may move in. But if your hope remains tethered to the Word of God victory cannot be snatched away from you.
