The Truth vs. A Lie – Which Would You Rather Build On?

the truth

The Truth of God’s Word will forever stand the test of time. On the contrary, everything in this world we live in is subject to change. There is nothing that we can place our complete trust and confidence in other than the truth of God’s Word.

Companies that appeared to be thriving last year, have gone out of business this year. Retirement accounts that people have contributed to for years have dried up and blown away. We make vacation plans up to 1 year in advance, only to have the flight we paid for cancelled. We struggle to purchase the home of our dreams, only the have it destroyed by fire or floods. Even placing our trust in those closest to us has left us disappointed from time to time. Everything in this life is subject to change.

Build your hopes and dreams on the truth of God’s Word. Anything that isn’t the truth is a lie. Don’t allow the lies that you can see to carry more weight than the truth of God’s Word which you cannot see.

Our only sure hope in this world is the truth of God’s Word. God’s Word is our firm foundation. It’s the standard by which we are to live our lives. God’s Word is our immovable anchor that we can hold onto in the midst of life’s storms. God’s Word is a constant that will never change. To contrast the steadfast quality of God’s Word with the things we encounter daily in this life would be like comparing concrete to sand.

Sand is ever changing depending on the weight that is placed on it. Sand can be blown away with the wind. Sand is unstable. If you try to build a house on sand, it won’t stand for very long.

On the other hand, concrete is solid. Concrete is stable. Concrete is difficult to move. Concrete withstands winds and storms. If you build your home on a concrete foundation, it will stand and not fall.

Lies are found in the World, The Truth is found in God’s Word

Don’t look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen, because the things which are seen are temporal (temporary and subject to change), but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Pay no attention to the lies that are all around you. Put your focus on the truth of God’s Word which will stand the test of time. Focus your attention on what God says about your situation and not what the bank, your employer, your body, or anything else that can be seen says about your situation.

The Truth of God’s Word will Always Prevail

Build your hopes and dreams on the truth of God’s Word. Anything that isn’t the truth is a lie. Don’t allow the lies that you can see to carry more weight than the truth of God’s Word which you cannot see. Direct your attention onto that which can’t be seen and know with all certainty that your hopes and dreams will be immovable when the storms of life rise up.
