The Christian Life is a Life Set Apart for Service to the Lord

Christian lifeThe Christian Life is a life that is set apart for service to the Lord. In a world where lying, cheating and stealing is the norm, living the Christian life can be challenging. It’s unfortunate, but doing the right thing can cause you to stick out like a sore thumb. We’re like Salmon swimming upstream against all that the world sees as “normal”. So what do you do when all eyes are on you because you’re living the Christian life instead of doing the things they call natural? REJOICE! Letting your light shine was just made easier!

I used to work in an environment where going out for drinks after work and womanizing was the norm. It seemed like my co-workers spent most of the day thinking of every place to go after work except home to their wives. And even with the few professing Christian co-workers I had, living the Christian life seemed to be the last thing on their agenda.

Consider each day you have to suffer ridicule or worst as a result of living the Christian life an honor, knowing that God will not allow you to go through any situation that is too difficult for you to bear.

I was just the opposite. I loved my family life and was one of the first ones out the door heading home at the end of my shift. Because of my beliefs, needless to say I was ostracized and left out of a lot of company functions. There were plenty of days when I was assigned to work with a non-Christian partner, which made for a long, silent shift. As I went through these types of situations at work, I always knew that Jesus was all that I needed to make it through the day.

The Christian Life Exposes Darkness

I’m writing this message to encourage those who may be having a hard time going through a hostile situation at work, at school, on a sports team or even at home because you have made the choice to live the Christian life. Realize first and foremost that those around you don’t have a beef against you personally. It’s their God who has a beef against your God (Ephesians 6:12). You represent the light and darkness cannot have fellowship with light.

As a representative of the light you are exposing them and their deeds simply by your presence, and no one likes being exposed. The only thing they can do is try to make you feel inadequate and uncomfortable with who you are and who you represent.

Consider each day you have to suffer ridicule or worst as a result of living the Christian life an honor, knowing that God will not allow you to go through any situation that is too difficult for you to bear. Gain strength from the idea that God may be able to use your presence to speak to every individual in your circle of influence. It may be something you say or something you do when you aren’t even conscious of it that has the power to change a life forever.

So I encourage you to stay strong as you continue living the Christian life in a hostile environment and know that your endeavors to glorify Him will never go unrecognized.

  1. Thanks so much for this message it was such a blessing; just what I needed
GOD is so wonderful and nothing happens by coincidence.

  2. This was indeed a message for the hour, my sisters are going through a similar experience at their workplace, it's hostile when you stand up for what's right, my advice to them was along the same lines that their fight is a spiritual fight, taken to God in pray, if your life is right with God and the enemy comes against you as a flood then God will intervene at the appropriate time, He gives us no more than we can bear, sometimes their are loopholes in our lives that need closing, but pray and the word are the Christian's weapons in this world. God bless and it was a blessing reading your message

    • Thank you for your encouragement Lana. My prayer is not that God would remove your sister from her situation, but that He would reveal to her the strength she has inside of her (through Him) to get through each day in the midst of her situation….
