Spirits and Ghosts and other Unwanted Visitors

Spirits, both good and evil are very real. They live among us daily. In fact, the bible even talks about entertaining angels without knowing it (Hebrews 13:2).

I’ve always believed in spirits and the spirit world but had never actually encountered one until after I was married and moved into the home we live in now. I work from home, so I spend my entire day at home alone. Since day one, I felt a “presence” in the house, but I never felt any fear concerning it.

There have been times when I walk past my son’s bedroom and catch a vision of a little girl sitting on my son’s lower bunk. Sometimes when I’m working at my computer I catch movement out of the corner of my eye. But when I turn to see what caught my attention, nothing is there.

In order to have dominion in this earth realm, you need to have a body. Jesus Himself needed a body in order to conduct His business in the earth.

Catching sight of these spirits are few and far between, but I hear things in the house all the time. Door’s opening and closing, and footsteps throughout the house are what I encounter most of the time. Whatever it is, it really becomes active when I’m in the shower of all places.

Almost daily when I’m in the shower, I hear someone come in through the back door so distinctly that I’m convinced that my wife or one of the boys is home early. But when I come out of the bathroom, no one is home except me.

Not wanting to alarm my wife, I hesitated to mention to her what I had been hearing in the house during the day. When I finally did talk to her about it, she smiled and said she knew about it. She actually hadn’t said anything about it because she didn’t want to scare me. The stories of her encounters with these spirits matched mine completely. She said she never felt a bit of fear concerning what was going on in the house. Now we call this little girl our “Friendly Ghost”.

We live a parallel existence. We live in the physical realm but at the same time this physical realm is immersed within the spiritual realm. Although there is a divide between the two, the two function and operate in conjunction with one another continuously.

We cannot conduct business in the spiritual realm with our bodies (our senses). The Bible is our window into the spiritual realm. That’s why we are commanded to walk by faith, not by sight. We are to walk by what we read in God’s Word and allow it to be our guide into spiritual things.

Likewise, spirits cannot conduct business in the physical realm. The only thing a spirit can do is stand on its side of the street and toss rocks over onto our side of the street by opening and closing doors, allowing us to hear creaking footsteps and other things that go bump in the night.

Spirits without bodies have no dominion here

In order to have dominion in this earth realm, you need to have a body. Jesus Himself needed a body in order to conduct His business in the earth. Unless what you’re dealing with is housed in some sort of body, you have nothing to be concerned about when dealing with spirits.

The bible tells us that greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world. Satan is the god of this world. If you feel you’re being oppressed by a spiritual entity of some sort, boldly speak God’s Word of protection over yourself and over your family. Submit yourself unto God, resist the devil and he will flee from you (James 4:7).

  1. I have had spirit/ghost contact since I was little living in a "haunted" house. Never have I felt threatened though, until. Where we currently live, my oldest daughter (7 at the time) used to come crying between 1-3 am just about very morning that there was someone/thing in her room that scared her. I would go in and not find anything. Sitting on her bed one night she was telling me there were mean faces on the back of her door then all of a sudden she screamed and said my face changed. This went on for a month or so.

My youngest (2 1/2) started talking about a friend that would play with her but sometimes was mean too. A few times she would be in the bedroom by herself and you would hear her having a complete conversation as if someone was there, I would stand outside the door listening, when I would knock on the door she would say goodbye to whoever it was.

My husband and I would hear things around the house, TV going on and off, feel presence watching us. Eventually my husband told his mom who is a Christian, we were not yet. She told us to go into the girls room while they were sleeping and read a chapter from the Bible (can't remember which one) and tell the spirit that it was scaring the girls and to please leave n the name of Jesus Christ.

Now the girls were sleeping soundly and had no idea we had done this. To this day (at least 3 years) they no longer come crying in the middle of the night and the "friend" is gone.

Had an experience with a Ouija board also. Long story short, my teenage son and a couple friends wanted to try it out. Against our better judgment we let them. They were talking to some kid supposedly and after they said good bye to the spirit (at like 1 am) the phone rang, private caller; no one was there.

    • Thanks for sharing your story Kimberly. I think sometimes we get caught up in the Hollywood drama that these spirits trash your house, make everyone in the family throw up green stuff, and have to be wrestled with for days on end by some Catholic Priest.

I thank you for sharing the simplicity of what you did so solve the problem with unwanted spirits in your home.
