Satan and his satanic influences through people and circumstances is real. Each day we must remain mindful of our enemy and take the necessary steps to protect ourselves with the armor of God as outlined in Ephesians 6:10-18.

Satan is a bully. The only way he can gain control over you is through fear. The bible says that Satan walks around the earth as a roaring lion seeking whom He may devour (1 Peter 5:8).

The bible didn’t say he was a roaring lion. It says he walks around AS a roaring lion. He’s a fake. He’s a phony.

He uses life’s facades to scare you and inject fear into your heart. If he can get you to focus on your fears, he can defeat you.

Satan uses facades in life very similarly to how Hollywood uses facades in movies. The goal is to trick you into thinking that what you see has more substance in your life than it really has.

Satan can do nothing to you apart from fear, any more than God can do anything for you apart from faith.

One of the many places I worked as a young adult was Warner Bros studios. During the time I worked on the back lot at the WB, I had the chance to walk down many streets and see many of the buildings I had grown up seeing on TV.

The studios were meticulous in creating buildings, streets and cities that look exactly like real locations. In fact, if you were to stand in front of your favorite movie facade, there is no way that you would be able to tell if you were looking at a real building or not.

But if you walk around behind the facade, you would see that the building you thought you were looking at was nothing more than a flat front of a building being held up with stilts.

A facade has no substance. It has the appearance of being real but it’s just a rendering of a building whose sole purpose is to trick your eyes into thinking that there really is a building standing in front of you.

Most of what you see in movies isn’t real. Facades, camera tricks and stunts are used all the time to trick you into thinking that what you’re actually seeing is real.

Satan uses facades in life very similarly to how Hollywood uses facades in movies. The goal is to trick you into thinking that what you see has more substance in your life than it really has.

Faith moves the hand of God the way fear moves the hand of Satan

Faith and fear work exactly the same way, only in opposite directions. Faith comes by hearing. So does fear. Meditating on God’s Word produces faith. Meditating upon the lies of the devil produces fear.

Faith must be acted upon to produce results in your life. Likewise, fear must be acted upon to produce results in your life.

Fear is perverted faith. People operate in fear almost every day of their lives and rarely ever think about it.

For example, we turn on the news and hear that flu season is quickly approaching. We meditate on what we heard on the news about flu season all day long at work. We mention to all of our co-workers that flu season is almost here.

Well meaning co-workers give their testimony about what the flu did to them last flu season, which builds your fear of catching the flu.

On the way home from work you stop off at the market and share with the check out lady that flu season is coming. When you get home, your wife or husband sneezes and you remind them of the impending flu season.

Then less than a week later, you feel that all too familiar scratchy feeling in your throat which is confirmation of what you’ve believed in your heart and spoken with your mouth all week long. Your flu has arrived right on schedule.

In the above scenario, Satan painted a picture of the flu that was so vivid in your mind that there was only a matter of time before you received what you spent the week meditating on.

Satan operates the same way concerning cancer, money woes, your troubled teens and every other thing that we have to deal with in life.

Satan is no match for God and His Word

The next time Satan comes against your mind with a negative thought, counter his attack with God’s Word.

There is a promise or principle in God’s Word that will counter every thought that Satan can bring to your mind.

When He comes at you with a thought, before you give words to his thought, speak God’s Word in direct opposition to Satan’s thoughts.

Light and darkness cannot occupy the same space at the same time. God’s Word is light. Meditate on, and speak the Word of God out of your mouth and darkness cannot remain.

Submit yourself unto God. Resist the devil by speaking God’s Word and he will flee from you.
