Ponder the Scriptures, for in them you will gain the Wisdom of God

ponder

Ponder – to think about (something) carefully, especially before deciding or concluding.

Looking back on your life from your current vantage point, are there decisions you have made that you wish you would have taken the time to ponder before making?

I think we all could make that wish. We live in such a fast paced society. Most of us are moving at breakneck speed trying to be as productive as possible.

While at the same time, those around us are moving a mile a minute in their own worlds trying to be productive in their own lives.

Have you thought about why you should ponder the scriptures? We don’t have to ponder newspapers or magazines. What makes the scriptures any different?

Add to that the noise that surrounds us at every turn. Most of us have no time at all to ponder over the smallest decisions in life.

Think about what it would be like if your son or daughter came to you and asked you a question. Then as you turn to answer your child’s question, they cut you off in mid-sentence and went about their way making decisions and acting on their decisions before you could even finish your response to their question.

Now imagine that same thing happening over and over and over again day after day, week after week.

That’s exactly what happens in our interaction with our heavenly Father when we pray for answers and guidance without taking the time to ponder and get quiet before the Lord for the answer.

Ponder the Scriptures, for in them you will gain the wisdom of God

Have you thought about why you should ponder the scriptures? We don’t have to ponder newspapers or magazines. What makes the scriptures any different?

We ponder the scriptures because the author of the scriptures has thoughts that are higher than our thoughts and ways higher than our ways.

The author of the scripture knows what decisions are the best decisions to make 100% of the time. And not only did the author of the scriptures write the Bible, but He has come to dwell inside of us.

It’s actually possible to hear the inward voice of the author of the scriptures, who will lead and guide us in the direction we should go.

Notice I said He will lead and guide us in the directions we SHOULD go, not necessarily in the direction we want to go.

Hearing His voice and getting Godly guidance demands that we take the time to ponder His word.

Identify your “Ponder Activator”

It’s very difficult to hear God’s voice in the middle of chaos. Take the time to find out what type of environment is prime for you to hear God’s voice.

It may be an ocean vista. It may be a beautiful meadow. It may be the peace and solitude of your car parked in a quiet parking lot. Whatever your ponder trigger is, take the time to find the spot where you can best hear from God.

Taking 5-10 minutes to hear from God concerning an important decision set before you could very well cause you to avoid 5-10 years of pain and suffering as a result of making an unwise life decision.
