Gods Word is the only Plan of Protection we need

gods word

Gods Word can be relied upon. We can count on Gods Word in every situation and circumstance of life. Have you ever been completely sold out to anything in your life? Have you ever made the quality decision to go in a certain direction and refused to be denied?

The human will is a powerful force. We have countless testimonies, books and movies about how people have overcome insurmountable odds just on the merits of their own will power. Once your mind is made up and you are willing to die for your cause, mountains will move out of your way.

We are the mighty army of God. We are world overcomers. We know that God will always honor His Word. We have testimony after testimony of how God has delivered His people from every kind of peril under the sun.

If we live lives where we are constantly looking to protect ourselves I think we can inadvertently bring that same mentality over into our walk with God. We can easily become conditioned to always have a backup plan in place in case Gods Word doesn’t work in our lives.

What is needed from us is our undying commitment to seeing the works of God manifested in our lives. Once we make the quality decision to stand on Gods Word, and decide that there is no turning back, we will see the works of God manifested in our lives.

The Illusion on Protection

We live in a world where protecting ourselves takes up most of our time. We buy auto and homeowners insurance to protect our interests. We have health insurance so that we won’t have to come out of pocket for medical expenses. Business owners form corporations to relieve themselves of any personal liability in the event of lawsuits. We counsel our children and tell them to enter college with a backup plan in case their first vocational choice falls through. We have prenuptial agreements in place to protect our interests in case of divorce. Our whole lives are set up to minimize damage in case what we set out to do goes wrong.

Don’t get me wrong, I believe in being prepared and I believe in protecting myself and my family. The point I’m trying to make here is that very rarely in life do we find ourselves in life or death, sink or swim situations where our first option is the only option.

If we live lives where we are constantly looking to protect ourselves I think we can inadvertently bring that same mentality over into our walk with God. We can easily become conditioned to always have a backup plan in place in case Gods Word doesn’t work in our lives.

Add to that the fact that we live in a “microwave” society. As technology advances, we become less and less accustomed to waiting for results. Impatience and the idea of having a Plan B in case Plan A doesn’t work are enemies to faith in Gods Word.

I have a note

My son injured his hamstring muscle the other day. He aggravated the muscle but not to the point where it warranted going to the doctor. I wrote a note to his Physical Education teacher asking her to excuse him from P.E. for the next two days to give the muscle time to heal. I placed my name and phone number on the note and told him to tell her to call me if she had any questions.

When Jordan got to school, the P.E. teacher told all the students to head over to the locker room to change into their P.E. clothing. Jordan presented his note to the teacher and she immediately told him to take a seat on the bleachers and spend his P.E. time reading while his classmates participated in P.E.

Jordan was excused from P.E. because I wrote a note for him. Without the note, he would have been expected to participate in P.E. The note from me was all he needed to be excused from P.E. He didn’t need a backup plan in case his note wasn’t accepted by the teacher.

Well our Father has written us a note as well. He gave us His Word and we don’t need a backup plan in case it doesn’t work. Gods Word is sure and steadfast. The bible says that the hope we have in our God serves as an anchor of the soul (Hebrews 6:19).

Gods Word is our Protection Plan

I’d like to encourage you to examine yourself, your spiritual lifestyle and your beliefs. Have you slipped into a Plan B mindset when it comes to God? Gods Word is our Plan A and it’s the only plan we need.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path (Proverbs 3:5-6). Do you believe in the authority He has placed in the note He has written for you?

  1. Very encouraging article indeed. God revealed me that most things we believed him for, we didn't see it happens like the creation of the world and his crucifixion on the cross. Our mission is to believe only, not to start digging in our minds to explain why and when his promises will come to pass.
