Flood Insurance – Will you be Covered When the Storms of Life Roll in?

flood insurance

Flood insurance is designed to protect you and your assets in case of…..you guessed it. A flood. I’ve purchased several homes in my life and when told that I needed flood insurance coverage on the loan, my immediate response was to look outside and assess where the property was located.

As I surveyed the area around my house, I couldn’t see any lakes, rivers or streams nearby. There was no canal running behind the property. The thought of my property being flooded in even the heaviest rainstorm seemed very remote to me.

But in order to get the loan, I had to agree to flood insurance. Fortunately for me, none of my properties ever flooded out, but in the back of my mind it was comforting for me to know that if Noah and his ark ever did come floating down my street, I was covered.

God’s Flood Insurance protects us from the Storms of Life

As we wrap up the year of 2015, a lot has happened in our lives and in the lives of our friends. We have lost loved ones. A few of our friends have been displaced for various reasons. Others have lost their jobs and others have failed to find jobs.

Through meditation on the promises of God, you can come to a place where you know in your heart that the flood insurance policy of God’s Word is more than sufficient to cover you through any situation or circumstance of life.

Two of our friends were diagnosed with cancer. One went from the picture of health to passing away within the span of 2 weeks.

The point I’m making here is that we live in an environment where we need flood insurance for our lives. Floods of cancer, unemployment, the loss of a loved one and many others are out there. These pending floods may be undetected in our lives right now.

You may have risen this morning and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky of your life. But these floods have a history of rolling in undetected. None of us can see the future. But although we can’t see the future, there is one thing we know for sure. We know that the rains and floods of life are coming. Is your flood insurance policy updated? Are you prepared should a flood hit your life in the next hour, day, or week?

Flood Insurance is for Life, not Death

For the Christian, God’s Word is our flood insurance. God’s Word is the policy that we rely on when the issues of life attempt to rush in and destroy us. When sickness and diseases rush in like a flood, we can refer to policy numbers James 5:13-16, Psalm 103:1-3, Isaiah 53:5, and 1 Peter 2:24 among others.

When the storm clouds of lack and not having enough to provide for yourself and your family roll in, you can refer to flood insurance policy numbers Malachi 3:10, Philippians 4:19, and Luke 12: 27-31 among others.

When the dark clouds of fear appear in your life, you can refer to insurance policy numbers Psalm 27:1, John 14:27, and 2 Timothy 1:7 among others. God has provided for us a policy number or scriptural principle that covers every possible flood of life.

Do you Trust Your Insurance Provider

Over the years I’ve found that most Christians are aware of their flood insurance policy numbers. The problem has been that they don’t trust their insurance provider. The bible tells us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and lean not unto our own understanding…Proverbs 3:5.

Coming to a place where we completely trust our insurance provider can only be attained by magnifying His Word to a point where scripture becomes larger in our hearts than our floods are. Notice that with God, the issue is the heart, not the head.

As far as you see, know and understand, your flood may look like it’s larger than life. It may look like there’s no escaping the flood you’re currently going through. But we aren’t moved by what we see. The insurance policy we have with God is so much larger than any flood that could ever come our way.

Trust in and rely on the insurance policy that God has provided for us in His Word by constantly meditating on it day and night (Joshua 1:8), for then…and only then will you make your way prosperous and then…and only then will you have good success.

Your Flood is Only a Mirage

God’s Word is more real than anything our senses can contact. As we enter a new year, determine in your heart that you’re not going to live your life in fear of a mirage. Lift up the standard of God’s Word when storms attempt to flood your life.

Through meditation on the promises of God, come to a place where you know in your heart that the flood insurance policy of God’s Word is more than sufficient to cover you through any situation or circumstance of life.

  1. This is probably the most "it actually makes sense" kind of post I've seen on on this subject. Best part… I didn't have to go digging through some weird web design to find it. Awesome! PLEASE keep posting new material!
