Faith: Allowing the Master Chef to Prepare the Perfect Meal
The older I get the more I come to understand how little control I have over my life. I also understand how important it is to live by faith in God daily. We make decisions in our lives and we think we’re in control, but we aren’t. And if given the opportunity would you really want to be in control?
Our lives are based upon a series of unknowns. When facing an unknown, faith must be applied. I don’t know that the restaurant I eat lunch at daily is serving food that is unsafe to eat, but by faith, I eat there and trust that I won’t get ill. I’m unaware that the driver behind me is drunk; therefore I continue driving down the road with only my faith in God’s protection as my guide. I have no idea my employer is misappropriating funds, so I tell all my friends about the great job I have, in faith that my employment in secure.
Faith is proceeding in life, unaware of all the details, trusting that all will work out fine. Faith is an imperative necessity in our lives. If we were in complete control of our lives, and knew everything about the people, places and things around us, we would be too freaked out to leave our homes.
Faith is proceeding in life, unaware of all the details, trusting that all will work out fine. Faith is an imperative necessity in our lives. If we were in complete control of our lives, and knew everything about the people, places and things around us, we would be too freaked out to leave our homes.
Life is continually moving us in various directions with very little input from us. Think about your own life for a moment. Are you working for the employer you set out to work for originally? Are you married to the person you thought you would eventually marry? Are you living in the city you always wanted to live in? Did you plan on having children but have none? Did you plan on not having children, but have some? Have you always been healthy, but now find yourself facing physically challenges?
How many people do you know that have college degrees but are working in a field totally unrelated to the field in which they studied in school? I could go on and on with these life questions that show just how little control we have over our lives.
I look at my own life sometimes and scratch my head in amazement. I Love my life. I have the perfect job, I live in a great community, I attend a great church, and I’m married to a woman who surpasses my wildest dreams. But if you traced the road of my past that led me to where I am today it would look like a page of scribbled chaos.
To get to where I am today, I needed to make a few detours along the way. I needed to have some experiences and I needed to gain some knowledge. The thing of it is, I didn’t know I needed to make the detours that I made and I didn’t know that I needed to experience certain things in my life to obtain the knowledge that I didn’t have at the time. But God knew….
Suppose you set out to prepare an exotic meal. The meal you are preparing requires 15 specialized ingredients that the average corner market does not supply.
You may have to go to 10 different locations in order to obtain all the ingredients you need to prepare your meal. If drawn on a map, your travels may look like a bunch of scribbled lines that make no sense. But the outcome of your travels is a wonderful meal.
For God to prepare your wonderful Meal of Life, you may need patience. You may need to experience compassion. You may need to be more thoughtful of others. You may need experience being around children. Your Meal of Life may need a myriad of different ingredients to turn out as God would have your meal turn out.
God knows the ingredients that are needed in order for your Meal of Life to come out just right. He may need to move you to a new job to pick up some of your necessary ingredients. He may need to move you out of the country. He may need to surround you with some of the most irritating people you’ve ever been around for you to develop in certain areas.
Our job, as we wait in the restaurant of life for our meal to be prepared, is to live by faith. Don’t be moved by what you see going on or don’t see going on in your life. Have faith that the Master Chef in the Kitchen of your Life is cooking something up that is amazing. The journey you are on and the meal God is preparing in your life will never end.
Love your life NOW. If you’re waiting to arrive at a particular place in life before you begin to love life, you will never arrive. Embrace change and embrace growth in your life.
As your life continues baking in Gods oven, know that with each and every twist of your life you are being prepared for something greater.
Have Faith in the Master Chef

I agree with you. We might think that everything depends on us, but in reality it's God who rules our lives from birth to death. People often say that something is coincidental, but I believe that every aspect of our life is carefully planned. We need to trust God that the path He had chosen for us is right.
Very well said. Thanks for your comment. Happy Thanksgiving!
