Faiths Hall of Fame – Will You Be Inducted?
Faith in God and His Word is my passion. The subject of faith was my first major topic of study when I became a Christian. I’ve been intrigued by the topic of faith from day one. I love the concept of the battle between two realms, the seen versus the unseen and which of them will be more influential on our minds and hearts.
Yesterday, during our Small Group session, we recapped what we learned in our church service Sunday morning. We are reading through the Book of Hebrews at church. So many times God has been able to answer questions and broaden our understanding through the views and opinions shared by those within our Small Group.
The need in the world today is much greater than it was during the time God used the mighty men spoken of in Hebrews 11. But thank God we have advantages and resources available to us that these Old Testament men of God didn’t have.
Yesterday was no exception. We talked about faith and those mentioned in Hebrews 11 who did mighty exploits for God. Discussions in our Small Group sessions also make for interesting conversations for our family on the drive home.
Faith Empowered Men of God
The amazing things that we read about in the Old Testament were done by non-Christians. Christ had not come yet, therefore Jesus wasn’t available for them to accept as Lord of their lives. Although God chose mighty men to do great works, they were not forgiven, blood washed Christians.
Nor did Gods people have the Holy Spirit dwelling within them. Back then, when God used someone to do something great, the Holy Spirit had to come on them to empower them to do Gods work. Then after Gods work was done, the Holy Spirit would leave until the next move of God was to be made.
Faith Infused Men of God
Today, God is able to do exploits through His Body, the church. Christians worldwide have the Holy Spirit dwelling within them 24/7/365 as opposed to coming upon them and empowering them to perform a temporary task. We have the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God to stand firmly on when we face opposition in our lives.
The need in the world today is much greater than it was during the time God used the mighty men spoken of in Hebrews 11. But thank God we have advantages and resources available to us that these Old Testament men of God didn’t have.
As we drove home after our Small Group session, I shared with my wife a renewed fire I felt within me to see God move among His people like He did in the bible. I felt a deeper conviction to walk by faith and not by sight. I felt a new motivation to move over into the realm of the unseen and trust Him totally and completely.
I want to encourage you to take your walk with God to a new level. Venture over into the unseen world of the Spirit. Begin to walk by faith in God and in His word. Walk in the kind of faith that others can be inspired by. Become a living witness of the life of faith and as you do, you will begin to build a relationship with God that is stronger than ever.
