Gods Grace Extended to His People by the Laying on of Hands
Gods grace is extended to His people in many ways. One of the ways Gods grace is extended to us is through laying hands on the sick.
The will of God is clearly revealed in His Word regarding healing the sick.
In Mark 16:17-18, one of the signs of those that believe is the laying of hands on sick people and the sick being healed by the power of God.
Our responsibility as the Body of Christ is to be conduits of Gods grace toward those whom God chooses to minister to in this area.
Some people I’ve talked to over the years have expressed a concern of stepping out in faith and laying hands on an individual and seeing no signs of instant healing.
There is no healing power in us. We are simply the pipeline through which Gods healing power can flow. We are simply the hose which supplies the water to a thirsty traveler.
Since we aren’t doing the healing, there is no pressure
Some people I’ve talked to over the years have expressed a concern of stepping out in faith and laying hands on an individual and seeing no signs of instant healing.
The bible never said there would be instant healing. Mark 16:18 says, “they will (or shall – depending on which translation you are reading) be healed.
Shall is a future tense designation. You shall be healed. It could be in minutes, hours, days, weeks, months or years. The time element is an irrelevant point; the bible says that you will be healed.
Gods Grace is the Healer
What if you went to a restaurant you’ve been hearing about for months. After perusing the menu, a waiter takes your order then swiftly disappears into the kitchen area.
After about 15 minutes, the same waiter arrives table side with your meal. Upon taking your first few bites of food you are amazed at how flavorful the meat on your plate is.
In fact, everything on your plate is absolutely amazing. This is by far the best meal you have ever eaten. At the end of the night, you leave the restaurant completely satisfied and eager to share your dining experience with others.
In analyzing the above restaurant experience, how much credit would you give to the waiter regarding the quality of your meal?
The service you received may have been impeccable, but even if it was, you probably wouldn’t give any credit for your savory meal to the waiter. Why? BECAUSE WAITERS DON’T COOK MEALS…
And conversely, if the meal was lousy, you still couldn’t blame the waiter with how bad the meal was. The waiter’s responsibility is simply to serve you a meal that has been prepared for you by the chef.
Likewise, when you lay your hands on others to be healed of physical ailments, you cannot take responsibility if it works, nor can you take the blame if it doesn’t work.
We are simply conduits of Gods grace toward others. Our hands are the only hands He has here in this earth realm. Our feet are the only feet He has here.
We are charged with delivering Gods grace, which includes the laying on of hands, all over the world.
Stay loyal to the process and leave the results to God
As with everything else, we are not in control. We cannot heal anyone. Simply do your part. Be prayerful as you encounter sick people.
Obey the Spirit of God if He leads you to lay hands on a sick person. Refuse the temptation of embarrassment or awkwardness as you obey God’s leading.
Embarrassment and awkwardness are tools the enemy uses to try to shut down the Body of Christ from receiving the fullness of God’s blessing.
And since it’s not our responsibility to heal anyone, there is no pressure if results are not immediately seen. Lend yourself to be a conduit of Gods grace and the results will follow in His timing.
