Answered prayer is always guaranteed. In fact it’s impossible to pray and not get an answer to prayer. What we have to realize is that “no” is just as valid an answer as “yes”, where answered prayer is concerned.
What most people mean when they say they didn’t get an answer to their prayer is that God didn’t give them the answer that they wanted. Learning to accept answers to prayer that are different than the answers we are expecting is the ultimate act of faith.
Learn to accept answered prayer regardless of what answer you get. Learn to live by faith in every situation in life including your prayer life. God is on our side. God is for us and if God is for us, no person or circumstance can be successful against us.
We have a loving Father who is looking out for our well-being continuously. Being human, we approach prayer with an extremely limited amount of knowledge and information about what we’re praying about.
Accepting Answered Prayer when God says “No”
It takes faith to understand and accept that God see’s from a much greater vantage point than we do. We must trust that our Father will give us His best answer regardless of what that answer may be.
- You leave home with plenty of time to get to an interview early. In spite of your efforts to be on time, you get stuck in traffic due to a freeway closure and arrive late to your interview. Your potential client sees this as a snub and you lose your client. But what you had no way of knowing is that the delay kept you from an encounter with a drink driver at an intersection you were scheduled to arrive to at precisely 1:13 PM. If it had not been for the delay, you would have lost your life today.
- You’ve fallen head over heels in love with “Mr. Right”. You prayed and God sent you a man who meets every single bullet point on your wish list and more. Your friends like him and your family loves him. You stand up in church and announce your engagement to the congregation and everyone rejoices with you. The following weekend you get a call at 3:00AM. It seems that Mr. Wonderful has been arrested on a domestic violence warrant. Not only do you find out that the love of your life has a girlfriend, but that he beat her so badly that she had to be hospitalized. Your world is turned upside down and you wonder how something which seemed so wonderful could have turned out so horrible.
The above scenarios may sound extreme but situations like these occur everyday. God repeatedly orchestrates the situations and circumstances behind the scenes in our lives and because we are only able to see one side of the answered prayer coin, some have separated themselves from the church and even questioned the existence of God. Problems arise when we allow ourselves to see only one side of the coin of answered prayer.
Weighting all of the Factors
It’s horrible that you lost a client solely because you were late to an interview. What’s worse is the fact that you were late due to a situation that was out of your control. But when you consider the other un-seen side of the coin that maybe something far worse may have happened had you been allowed to be on time for your interview, it makes losing a client seem very insignificant.
Sure it’s horrible to pray for the ideal mate and receive what seems to be the answer to your prayer only to have it snatched out from under you in an instant. But the pain of losing him now doesn’t compare to the pain and sorrow of following your own will instead of God’s Will and becoming legally bound to someone who will cause you harm in the long run.
Don’t Forget About Your Opponent
Always keep in mind that you have an enemy that hates what you stand for. We are the Body of Christ. We are His hands, His feet, and His mouth pieces. It’s through us that the message that God came to save a dying world gets spread. Our enemy seeks to silence us and to ruin our testimonies by any means necessary, up to and including killing us.
Beware of wolves in sheep’s clothing where answered prayer is concerned. Especially when dealing with answered prayer concerning a mate. There is an old saying that goes “If it looks to good to be true, it probably is too good to be true”.
The circumstances we face in life along with the people we cross paths with don’t happen by chance. Learn to accept answered prayer regardless of what answer you get. Learn to live by faith in every situation in life including your prayer life. God is on our side. God is for us and if God is for us, no person or circumstance can be successful against us.
